Because it’s fun to play with composition.

This version shows the cream of the paper of more, and the original colours.  I think I used almost everything I had in my bag for this.  Watercolour, inks, felt-tips, fine-liners, my dip pen (and acrylic ink), pencil crayons…  Masking fluid.  Splashsplattersplot and scritscritscrit.…I still want to draw these little tree crustaceans turned into noodle soup.Someone reckoned it looked like Washi origami paper patterns.  I wasn’t thinking about that as I was doing it, but it’s actually an accurate comparison!

I played around with the scan a bit more in Photoshop - intoxicatingly vibrant (I’m still punch-drunk on colour, it seems, and using green and blue genuinely has a calming effect, I’m sure.  I totally mellowed out after a stroppy morning by the time I was working on this piece.)

Took the symbol of trees with the theme of mind/health.  The crit’s tomorrow - any firm sense of communication was probably lost in me being obtuse and having fun trying to see what people would come up with for it.  There’s acrylic, gouache, pen and ink, monoprint, AND photoshop to this. It was a lot of fun to make.
