Just interesting from a process perspective. This one probably took the longest because what on earth was I doing with those colours? I made a crazy number of thumbnails for the geothermal paintings, killed the geyser, and still wasn’t happy with the outcome. It’s a theme I’d like to explore more.
Because I have over a thousand photos of Rotorua, Wai-o-Tapu, Waimangu, Te Puia, and Whakarewarewa.
Last one - and this is the one my icon’s taken from.
It’s roughly the anniversary (never good with dates!) of my painting these, and they’re still some of the things I’m most proud of. I’ve posted them before, way back when I started this blog, but I’ve been in a bit of a funk this term (or year), and could use a reminder of what I can accomplish when I put my mind to it.
I also want to share them with you guys who haven’t been with me long, so you know my favourite thing to do is paint!
The book all neatly made and displayed! (Plus business cards.)
Then I glow,
sometimes cower
at all the places
left to DISCOVER.
most frightful are the times
I can’t escape
the weather.
yet
some froth of mirth
burbles
and brings warmth.
sometimes
It’s overwhelming
impossible.
